Service Description

The Battle for Structure: Engaging Parents in Treatment Engaging parents in the treatment of their children can often be challenging and feel like a constant push and pull between the provider and the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the child who is typically the identified patient. This training will explore various approaches and modalities and how the initial Battle for Structure can be navigated to engage parents in therapy. The early phases of treatment, starting with the consultation call to the initial assessment and first therapy session will be explored to highlight various intervention and change points. Participants will learn ways in which the presentation of the problem can be reframed and shifted to increase parental understanding on the importance of systemic engagement in treatment. This interactive training will incorporate activities and role play scenarios to practice and refine implementation of skills learned throughout the training.
