Service Description
Supervising behavioral health providers of all developmental levels and experience is rewarding, but can sometimes be challenging. When supervising novice behavioral health professionals, such as interns or masters level clinicians with less than one year of recent clinical experience, a diverse set of unique challenges specific to this experience level may need to be addressed within the supervisory relationship. This training will focus on shifting the supervisor’s perspective of self, their role for change, and reconceptualization of the growth process with their supervisee. Supervisors attending this training will develop a clear understanding of identifiable and inherent strengths their supervisees may have, and appropriate and supportive methods for scaffolding those strengths further. Supervisors will also learn how to quickly identify common areas of concern that are common in novice providers and direct, yet firm and supportive, strategies they can use to address these concerns within the supervisory relationship. This training will focus on the following domains and objectives: 1. Participants will learn about the roles in which supervisors must shift between throughout the training process of new providers and scenarios in which they may shift from role to role. 2. Participants will learn methods in which they can support fledgling providers in developing their client engagement skills. 3. Participants will conceptualize clinical training through five sub domains of competencies and supervisory techniques they can use to build each competency area within fledgling professionals. 4. Participants will learn about warning signs to monitor for, strategies for addressing, and the importance of gatekeeping should that become necessary. *Clinical Best Practice Institute, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7639.
